چکیده

The intraday pattern, long memory, and multifractal nature of the intertrade durations, which are defined as the waiting times between two consecutive transactions, are investigated based upon the limit order book data and order flows of 23 liquid Chinese stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2003. An inverse U -shaped intraday pattern in the intertrade durations with an abrupt drop in the first minute of the afternoon trading is observed. Based on the detrended fluctuation analysis, we find a crossover of powerlaw scaling behaviors for small box sizes (trade numbers in boxes) and large box sizes and strong evidence in favor of long memory in both regimes. In addition, the multifractal nature of intertrade durations in both regimes is confirmed by a multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis for individual stocks with a few exceptions in the small-duration regime. The intraday pattern has little influence on the long memory and multifractaility.

Scaling in the distribution of intertrade durations of Chinese stocks

The distribution of intertrade durations, defined as the waiting times between two consecutive transactions, is investigated based upon the limit order book data of 23 liquid Chinese stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in the whole year 2003. A scaling pattern is observed in the distributions of intertrade durations, where the empirical density functions of the normalized intertrade du...

Detrended Fluctuation Analysis of Music Signals: Danceability Estimation and further Semantic Characterization

Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) has been proposed by Peng et al. [1] to be used on biomedical data. It originates from fractal analysis and reveals correlations within data series across different time scales. Jennings et al. [2] used a DFA-derived feature, the detrended variance fluctuation exponent, for musical genre classification introducing the method to the music analysis field. In t...

2 7 M ar 2 00 4 Detrended fluctuation analysis as a statistical tool to monitor the climate

Detrended fluctuation analysis is used to investigate power law relationship between the monthly averages of the maximum daily temperatures for different locations in the western US. On the map created by the power law exponents, we can distinguish different geographical regions with different power law exponents. When the power law exponents obtained from the detrended fluctuation analysis are...

A new method for abrupt change detection in dynamic structures

Based on Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA), we propose a new method – Moving Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (MDFA) – to detect abrupt change in dynamic structures. Application of this technique shows that this method may be of use in detecting time-instants of abrupt change in dynamic structures and we even find that the MDFA results almost do not depend on length of subseries, and are less ...

Detrended Fluctuation analysis of Bach’s Inventions and Sinfonias pitches

Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA), suitable for the analysis of nonstationary time series, is used to investigate power law in some of the Bach’s pitches series. Using DFA method, which also is a well-established method for the detection of long-range correlations, frequency series of Bach’s pitches have been analyzed. In this view we find same Hurts exponents in the range (0.7−0.8) in his I...
